Arches from PVC trims - bending trims for arched windows

Arches made from PVC trims conceal the fitting gap between the curved window frame and the arch of the masonry opening. Bending is done to order, to a specific radius - the radius of the trim must match the radius of the window frame, otherwise the trim will not sit against it along its whole length. Suitable for bending are flat trims 2.5 mm thick, PVC angle profiles and hollow-chamber trims of 7 and 15 mm, in white and wrapped in Renolit, Continental (Hornschuch), Cova and LG foils.

Not every trim width can be bent to any radius - the wider the trim, the larger the minimum radius has to be. On too tight an arch the material starts to wrinkle along the inner edge, so for tight arches we pick a narrower profile. Trims 20 to 50 mm wide are the ones most often bent. Bending causes slight deformation of the inner and outer edges as the PVC moves - a normal effect that does not affect the durability of the profile.

We need three things: the radius of the window frame arch, a decision on how many millimetres the bent trim should overlap the frame (or whether its lower edge should merely meet the frame edge), and the width and type of profile. We make the bent trim a good ten to twenty centimetres longer than the window frame - that surplus makes it easier to fit the side trims to the arched window afterwards. Arches are not stock items, so we set the quote and the lead time individually each time.

We hand goods over during the week, but the collection time is agreed individually - including on a Saturday and, if need be, a Sunday, arranged by phone beforehand. The option is used above all by customers living and working in Germany. With arches we set the production date with the quote, and weekend collection has to be booked by Friday 12:00 at the latest.
