Aluminium door thresholds

A threshold closes the door construction at the bottom and handles three things at once: a tight seal where the leaf meets the floor, drainage of water from under the door, and resistance to traffic, since it is the one part of the door people walk on every day. Aluminium is chosen where strength and dimensional stability count - it does not deform under load or sag across a wide opening, and versions with a thermal break reduce the cold bridge at floor level.

On balcony and patio doors the threshold height often matters. Low solutions ease the step from terrace to interior and let a wheelchair or pushchair through, but they need drainage designed with care - otherwise water from the terrace finds its way inside. On entrance doors what usually counts most is the seal and resistance to heavy use. That is why we match the threshold to the type of door, the profile system and the fitting method, not just to the size of the opening.

When replacing a threshold in an existing door, matching the hardware and the bottom seal of the leaf is critical. A difference of even a few millimetres in height means the door stops closing or starts letting draughts through. So before we quote we ask for a photo of the section of the existing threshold or the bottom of the frame with a tape measure alongside, plus the clear width inside the frame. Given the number of combinations we make the selection individually.

We hand goods over during the week, but the collection time is agreed individually - including on a Saturday and, if need be, a Sunday, arranged by phone beforehand. The option is used above all by customers living and working in Germany, who collect their material when they come back to Poland. Orders for weekend collection should be placed by Friday 12:00 at the latest. We ship throughout Poland.
