Technolog door closers - scissor arm and slide rail models plus the Spir spring closer

Door closers - scissor arm and slide rail

Models for doors weighing 35 to 120 kg and up to 1400 mm wide. Fire-rated F versions, hold-open versions, colours: white, silver, brown.

A door closer is chosen by the weight and width of the leaf, not by the look of the door. The tables below give both figures for every model, so choosing comes down to checking whether the door falls within range.

We carry three families: scissor arm with a visible arm, slide rail with a more discreet look, and the Spir spring closer for light doors and gates. The low force needed to open them also suits hospitals and care homes.

Scissor arm door closers

Visible scissor arm, doors up to 120 kg, hold-open and fire-rated versions

The simplest solution and the one most often chosen for service and internal doors. The scissor arm stays visible, but fitting is quick and adjustment straightforward.

All models suit right and left hand doors, light and heavy internal doors and light external ones. They mount on the leaf on the hinge side or on the frame on the opposite side.

Slide rail door closers

Arm concealed in the rail, doors up to 120 kg, fire-rated versions

Instead of a protruding scissor arm, the arm runs in a rail screwed to the frame. A less conspicuous solution that copes better with knocks, since nothing sticks out from the leaf.

TS 61 is the only model in this group that also handles heavy external doors.

Spir spring door closer

Metal, for doors up to 35 kg, with hold-open at 90°

The Spir spring closer fitted on a door frame
The answer for light doors and the usual choice on outdoor gates. The whole mechanism is a spring in a metal body - no valves, no speed adjustment.

On heavier leaves two units are used instead of one. Spir has a catch that holds the open leaf at 90 degrees, and fitting is simple, suiting both flush and non-flush doors where the leaf overlaps the frame.

How to choose a door closer

Selection starts with two numbers: the weight of the leaf and the width of the door. Both must fall within the model’s range - exceed either and the door will close too slowly or the closer will wear out fast.

The second choice is scissor arm or slide rail. The scissor arm is cheaper and simpler to fit, but the arm protrudes and is exposed to knocks. The slide rail looks more discreet and works better in circulation routes where people pass the door with trolleys or equipment.

The third point is force adjustment. On the TS 41, TS 40, TS 61, TS 51 and TS 25 V the closing force is set steplessly by a valve. On the rest it is set in steps by moving the closer along the leaf - which has to be planned before drilling.

For fire doors only the versions marked with an F may be used: TS 41 F, TS 11 F, TS 61 F, TS 51 F, TS 24 F and TS 12 F.

Hold-open versions keep the leaf open - useful where the door has to stand open while things are carried through. Every scissor arm model is also available in this form.

The low force needed to open them means these closers are used in hospitals and care homes, where the door must also open for people with limited strength.

Door closers - how to choose the model

A door closer is chosen by the weight of the leaf and the width of the door, and both must fall within the model's range. The range covers doors from 35 to 120 kg and up to 1400 mm wide. All TS closers suit right and left hand doors, light and heavy internal doors and light external ones; model TS 61 additionally handles heavy external doors. Fitting is on the leaf on the hinge side or on the frame on the opposite side.

Scissor arm or slide rail

The scissor arm closer has a visible arm and is simpler to fit - the usual choice on service and internal doors. In the range: TS 41/41F, TS 40, TS 21, TS 11/11F and TS 10. The slide rail closer runs its arm in a rail screwed to the frame: it looks more discreet and copes better with knocks, because nothing sticks out from the leaf. In this group: TS 61/61F, TS 51/51F, TS 51, TS 25 V, TS 24/24F and TS 12/12F. A category of its own is the Spir spring closer for light doors and gates.

Force adjustment, hold-open and fire-rated versions

On the TS 41, TS 40, TS 61, TS 51 and TS 25 V the closing force is set steplessly by a valve. On the rest it is set in steps by moving the closer along the leaf - which has to be planned before drilling. Closing speed is steplessly adjustable on every model. For fire doors only versions with an F may be used: TS 41 F, TS 11 F, TS 61 F, TS 51 F, TS 24 F and TS 12 F. Hold-open versions keep the leaf open and are available on every scissor arm model.

Spir spring door closer

Spir is a metal spring closer for doors up to 35 kg. On heavier leaves two units are used. It has a catch that holds the open leaf at 90 degrees and is fitted to flush and non-flush doors alike, where the leaf overlaps the frame. Typical uses are gates and light external doors. Available colours: chrome plus epoxy in silver, gold, bronze and white. The low force needed to open them means the closers in our range are also used in hospitals and care homes.

Collection at the weekend too

We hand goods over during the week, but the collection time is agreed individually - including on a Saturday and, if need be, a Sunday, arranged by phone beforehand. The option is used above all by customers living and working in Germany, who collect their material when they come back to Poland. Orders for weekend collection should be placed by Friday 12:00 at the latest. We ship throughout Poland.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose a door closer?

By the weight of the leaf and the width of the door - both must fall within the model's range. For doors up to 120 kg and 1400 mm wide there are the TS 41 and TS 61; for lighter and narrower ones the other models.

How does a scissor arm closer differ from a slide rail one?

The scissor arm has a visible arm and is simpler to fit. The slide rail runs the arm in a rail at the frame - it looks more discreet and nothing sticks out from the leaf.

Which closer for fire doors?

Only the versions marked with an F: TS 41 F and TS 11 F among the scissor arm models, and TS 61 F, TS 51 F, TS 24 F and TS 12 F among those with a rail.

Can the door be held open?

Yes, that is what the hold-open versions are for, available on every scissor arm model. The Spir spring closer has a catch at 90 degrees.

How is the closing force adjusted?

On the TS 41, TS 40, TS 61, TS 51 and TS 25 V steplessly by a valve. On the rest in steps, by moving the closer along the leaf - which has to be planned before drilling.

Which closer for a garden gate?

The Spir spring closer. It is metal, intended for doors up to 35 kg and typically used outdoors on gates. On a heavier leaf two units are fitted.

What colours are the closers available in?

The TS models in white, silver and brown. Spir in chrome and in an epoxy finish: silver, gold, bronze and white.

Where is a door closer fitted?

On the leaf on the hinge side, or on the frame on the side opposite the hinges. Both options are provided for on every TS model.
