Gaskets in PVC windows are key to airtightness and to thermal and acoustic insulation. Over time they wear, which leads to draughts and heat loss. When choosing gaskets it is worth looking at the material - EPDM gaskets perform best, being weather-resistant and flexible across a wide temperature range. Fitting new gaskets starts with removing the old ones completely and cleaning the seating surface. The new gasket is then set carefully into the groove, spread evenly around the whole perimeter of the window. Regular checking and care of the gaskets will keep windows working for years without problems from leaks.
